Video upload limits

Postbean accepts MP4 and MOV video, up to 100 MB per file.

Why 100 MB

Most of the networks that accept video reject anything much larger, and each one rejects it differently and at a different point in the upload. Cutting it off before the upload starts means you find out in the composer instead of discovering a failed post an hour after you scheduled it.

The check runs twice — in your browser before the upload begins, and again on the server — so the limit holds however the file arrives, including through the API.

Getting a large file under the cap

Most social video is far smaller than 100 MB when exported sensibly. If yours is not:

• Export at 1080p, not 4K. Nothing on any of these networks is served above 1080p in the feed.
• Use H.264 in an MP4 container. It is the format every network handles best, and it compresses far better than most editors’ default export.
• Drop the bitrate. 8–10 Mbps is plenty for 1080p social video.
• Trim the video. Every network has its own duration ceiling anyway — 3 minutes for Shorts and for Bluesky, and TikTok’s ceiling comes from your own account.

Other formats

• Images: JPG, PNG, WebP, up to 8 MB each.
• Subtitles: SRT or VTT, up to 512 KB, for burning captions onto video.

GIF, AVI, MKV and HEVC/H.265 are not accepted. Convert to MP4 first.

Duration and dimensions

Postbean does not re-encode, resize or crop anything. What you upload is what the network receives, so the duration and aspect ratio rules are each network’s own — see Platform limits and restrictions.
