Creating a carousel post
A carousel is just a post with more than one image. There is no separate post type to pick.
Building one
Section titled “Building one”- In the composer, open the Gallery tab.
- Upload several images — JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MB each.
- Reorder them; the first image is the one people see in the feed, and on Instagram it also decides the aspect ratio the rest are fitted to.
- Write the caption, adjust per network, and publish or schedule.
The Preview panel renders the carousel network by network, so you can check the crop before it goes out.
What each network does with it
Section titled “What each network does with it”| Network | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Native carousel, 10 images maximum | |
| Threads | Native carousel, up to 20 |
| Multi-photo post on the Page feed | |
| Native multi-image post | |
| X (Twitter) | Attaches your images — X itself accepts up to 4 |
| Bluesky | First image only |
| One image per pin — the first is used | |
| DEV Community | The first image becomes the article’s cover |
| TikTok / YouTube | Video only, so they drop out of the picker |
Postbean’s own ceiling is 35 pieces of media per post, well above what any network accepts; the network’s limit is what actually applies. Instagram’s 10-image cap has its own page.
Getting a clean result
Section titled “Getting a clean result”- Use the same aspect ratio for every image. On Instagram, mixed ratios get fitted to the first image’s shape.
- Lead with your strongest image — it is the only one most people see.
- Keep the resolution consistent so one slide does not look softer than the rest.
